The Bluecoat's fifth annual celebration of the life and work of the Wirral-born writer Malcolm Lowry represented a substantial development for the Lounge. There were international speakers for the European launch of University of Ottawa Press' scholarly edition of Lowry’s 'lost' novel, In Ballast to the White Sea; a talk by the acclaimed writer Iain Sinclair; launch of a new Firminist journal; and attendance by members of Lowry's family. The day started with a walking tour of Liverpool city centre led by Colin Dilnot and ended with a mescal toast to the writer.
